Western Kentucky will be getting some help next season: three players from UAB have decided to play for the Hilltoppers in 2015, after it was recently announced that UAB shut down its football program. (Defensive Line) Jontavious Morris, (Safety) T.J. McCollum, and (Safety) Greg Maclin will enroll at WKU later this month, sources have confirmed. The three additions to head coach Jeff Brohm's squad will not affect the team's scholarship limit, and the players will be eligible immediately. The three former Blazers, who each played in at least ten games in 2014, should help a Hilltopper defense that ranked 120th in 2014.
Western Kentucky is also hoping to land former UAB linebacker Shaq Jones, who is reportedly deciding between Marshall and Western Kentucky. The 6'3", 210 pound Alabama native recorded 50 tackles in twelve games for the Blazers in 2014. Interest from former UAB players shouldn't come as a surprise to Brohm, who was the Blazers' offensive coordinator in 2012.
