Tight end David Morgan has made history in becoming the very first UTSA Roadrunner to be selected in the NFL Draft. He was chosen with the #188 pick by the Minnesota Vikings.
Morgan is at his best with a hand on the ground, giving the Vikings some help in getting that vaunted running game rolling. He is the old school extra offensive lineman that can also go out and catch passes when needed.
He will bring an added dimension to the running game and could see action sooner, rather than later, for the NFC team. It is too early to project his chances of making the Vikings roster, but Morgan had several teams very interested in him either as a late draft pick or an undrafted free agent.
While Morgan is at his best as a blocker, he's still exceptional as a pass catcher. UTSA fans have seen Morgan lay out for one handed dive catches, adjust to throws over his shoulder, drag his toe on the turf to complete passes and use his large frame to create mismatches with defensive backs.
Congratulations to David Morgan and UTSA on sending its very first draft pick to the NFL.
