UAB added a pair of players to an already impressive crop of commitments over the weekend.
D.A. Williams and William Johnson will soon join the fold as they both declared their intentions to become part of the Blazer football program, as UAB looks to resume on-field competition in 2017.
Johnson is a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports composite list and flips his commitment from Nebraska to UAB with his announcement. He is rated as the third best outside linebacker in the JUCO ranks, as UAB head coach Bill Clark continues his raid on the top junior college athletes in the country.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound defender is currently playing at Arizona Western College and hails from Pompano Beach, Fla. In nine games this season for AWC, Johnson has 68 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and an interception. He also held offers from Washington State, Oregon State, South Alabama, and Florida Atlantic.
Williams was a 3-star recruit and signed with Iowa State out of high school in 2013. At the time, he had offers from the likes of UCF and Vanderbilt as a cornerback out of Saint Augustine, Fla. He has spent the last two years at Iowa Western Community College.
Here are some of Johnson's highlights.
