The Men of Troy are gearing up to take on conference foe Georgia State this Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Panthers took the game from the Trojans last year 31-21.
Troy is 4-1 and 2-0 in conference play, while Georgia State is 1-4 and 1-1 in the conference.
The Trojans have been impressive this year especially when it comes to forcing turnovers. Troy is tied for second with Cincinnati for most interceptions with 12. SMU is the leader in this category with 13. The Trojans' Blace Brown is tied for first with the most picks with four.
1. Malik Hooker (Ohio State)
2. Tavarious McFadden (Florida State)
3. Kai Nacua (BYU)
4. Horace Richardson (SMU)
5. Jordan Wyatt (SMU)
Forcing turnovers is one of the key aspects that will give the Trojans an edge against the Panthers.
The Trojans are able to move offensively through the air and through the ground game. Brandon Silvers will be taking charge of the air attack for the Trojans. Silvers has passed for 1204 yards for 108-170 with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions this season.
Jordan Chunn will lead the game in the trenches for Troy. Chunn has rushed for 582 yards getting the ball 101 times with four touchdowns this season.
Georgia State is a decent team that will put up a fight, but aren’t able to maintain the endurance to finish. Week three showed us that the Panthers aren’t a team to sleep on. Wisconsin barely escaped the clutches of Georgia State only winning 23-17.
Panther’s quarterback Connor Manning isn’t afraid to air out the ball. Manning has passed for 1060 yards going 95-169 with five touchdowns and five interceptions.
Georgia State is hot coming off of their first victory of the season over Texas State. Quarterback, Conner Manning was impressive in the Panthers 41-21 victory over the Bobcats going 27 for 40 with 2 touchdowns.
Georgia State was much improved on the ground registering their first 100+ yard performance of the season. The Panthers' defense was also better against the run, limiting Texas State to 120 yards rushing.
The Panthers will need to contain Troy Quarterback Brandon Silvers if they want any shot at winning. Conner Manning must take care of the football once again and Kyler Neal needs to get going early on the ground.
