Georgia State scored the final ten points of the contest to rally and beat Abilene Christian. Quarterback Nick Arbuckle led the final drive 72 yards to set up the winning 26 yard field goal by Will Lutz with four seconds left. It was the Panthers' first lead after Abilene Christian went up 16-14 shortly before halftime.

Georgia State gave up three turnovers in the game, including an interception by Angel Lopez who would leave the game in the fourth quarter with concussion-like symptoms after making a stop in the secondary. Abilene Christian gave up a single interception to junior linebacker Joseph Peterson.

Both quarterbacks succeeded in breaking the 400 yard passing mark, while Georgia State had a decided advantage in the rushing game, 153-97.

The win was the first for Georgia State since joining the FBS and the Sun Belt. It was also the first in two years, and the first win in Trent Miles tenure at Georgia State.
