Sun Belt Power Rankings: Week Twelve

It's like a choose your own adventure book, but instead of flipping to a page you are talking crap.

Looks like we got ourselves a race, boys. I know I've said before that we will end the season with a single champion. None of this split title crap. But imagine my delight when I opened this week's ballot results to find a tie at the top of our rankings.

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns - 105 points - 5 first place votes

Georgia Southern Eagles - 105 points - 5 first place votes

There are a number of tie breakers we could resort to in this situation. We could drop the team with the most recent loss. We could rank them based on the number of conference wins. I could be a homer and rank the team I like the best, which at this point might be Southern because #GATA.

No, I think I have a better idea. You get to decide.

But we aren't going to use some bullshit poll, or have you submit why your team is the best. No, we're going in the other direction.

Cast your vote by telling me why the other team sucks in the comments.

It's as simple as that. Go into the comments and tell the world why a triple option team has no place in modern football. Explain the ludicrous nature of a school where the strongest person on the sideline is the head coach. Talk crap about their mommas. Just leave the local cuisine out of it. No need to get lowbrow.

Just don't be a misogynist, racist, or an unfunny dick.

And keep in mind, UL and Georgia Southern only have games against App State, Troy, and ULM left. The final outcome of this vote could stick and ultimately decide our final champion.

Now let's rank some football teams.

? Louisiana Ragin Cajuns 7-3 (6-0)

The Cajuns may struggle in the pass defense department, but when an opponent finishes a game with -39 rushing yards, it almost doesn't matter. You know, UL would probably match up favorably with a team that doesn't throw the ball much like, maybe Georgia Southern. Read the full recap here.

? Georgia Southern Eagles 8-3 (7-0)

As a Sun Belt team, losing to Navy isn't very damning. Losing to Navy by 33, though? That's pretty bad. Especially when you give up six rushing touchdowns to the same dude. On the bright side, Matt Brieda did make the Melvin Gordon Award watch list because of all those big plays he makes. And you know who's been prone to giving up big plays? The Cajuns. Read the full recap here.

3 Arkansas State Red Wolves 6-4 (4-2)

Sooooo, that wasn't supposed to happen. I mean, the Red Wolves starting pulling things together again near the end of the game, but there was a point where it felt like the wheels had come off. Arkansas State was never really out of the game, but the fourth quarter just felt like a long downhill slide, even when they got back on the board late. I don't know what this means, and apparently neither did the voters because you're still in third. Read the full recap here.

4 Appalachian St. Mountaineers 5-5 (4-2)

Don't worry App State fans, I've got this one for you. WHAT THE HELL YOU MEAN APP STATE STILL RANKED BEHIND ARKANSAS LITE!? WE BEAT THEM BOYS! WE EVEN GOT THE SAME CONFERENCE RECORD! SO WHAT WE LOST TO LIBERTY. ENGLAND LOST TO LIBERTY TOO AND THEY SEEM TO BE DOIN ALRIGHT! YOU KNOW WHY? CUZ THAT CRAP IS ANCIENT HISTORY! WHOEVER WRITES THIS GARBAGE SHOULD BE FIRED! Read the full recap here.

5 South Alabama Jaguars 6-4 (5-3)

I'll be honest. I thought South Alabama was dead in the water after last week. The injuries and emotions just seemed to be piling up, but the Jags pulled it together to win one of the most exciting #FUNBELT games this season. Read the full recap here.

6 Texas State Bobcats 5-5 (3-3)

This one is gonna sting, but it should. Only earning 10 points off of three turnovers on the short side of the field isn't going to cut it. Especially when you have no turnovers of your own. Read the full recap here.

7 ULM Warhawks 3-7 (2-4)

Watching this game brought a few thoughts to mind. Todd Berry does a great job preparing his quarterbacks. Todd Berry likes using his quarterbacks a lot. Sometimes Todd Berry uses too many quarterbacks. Todd Berry needs a ground game badly. Read the full recap here.

8 Troy Trojans 3-8 (3-4)

If everything continues at it's current pace, this game marked the final victory in Larry Blakeney's coaching career. It's a shame it took place in a secluded private airplane hangar, like it was some sort of drug deal.

9 New Mexico State Aggies 2-8 (1-5)

New Mexico State handled business this week against BYE, and were rewarded with a bump in their ranking. #STAYTURNT #TEAMNODAYSOFF. See the bye week recap here.

10 Idaho Vandals 1-9 (1-6)

Paul Petrino has a 2-20 record as a head coach, which is a nice little number. It would almost be a shame to ruin it by letting him coach another game. Just saying, take the bye week to think about it.

11 Georgia State Panthers 1-9 (0-7)

The Panthers are well rested after their bye and are ready to take on Clemson and no wait why are you laughing I'm serious they're playing Clemson this weekend well I mean I'm using the word playing almost metaphorically here they won't actually aww nevermind.
