Betting Line: SMU -3, O/U 56

The Green Wave has gathered their 3 wins this year by defeating either, opponents that were absolutely hopeless (UCF), or bad FCS teams like Maine (7th in the Colonial Athletic Conference). When compared to SMU's schedule that includes TCU, Baylor, and a very respectable James Madison team that is 8-2 so far this season there is a distinction to be made.

Both teams are bad. But don't let the records fool you, SMU has had the much more challenging schedule.

The SMU Mustangs head into their final home game of the season as broken and battered team that has lost their buzz from a coaching change this off-season. Chad Morris didn't bring magical pixie dust from Death Valley to sprinkle on the team to make them AAC contenders and now they have to look themselves in the mirror and realize that they need to salvage something from this season of heavy disappointment.

Tulane has been regressing the last two years after a 7-6 finish in 2013.despite having a promising coach in Curtis Johnson that has won National Championship (Miami) and a Superbowl (New Orleans Saints). Johnson has a great reputation as a recruiter, but that skill hasn't helped Tulane to get over the hump on game day thus far.

Both teams have defenses that rank worse that 100th in the nation so don't expect a low scoring affair. SMU has the clear talent advantage on the offensive side of the ball that will put a lot of pressure on Tanner Lee to keep pace with SMU's Matt Davis and Courtland Sutton. SMU running backs Xavier Jones and Braeden West have shown flashes of talent, but they never seem to get enough carries because SMU has fallen behind early so often this season.

Keys to the Game

Tulane:

Sophomore Tanner Lee will need to have a better showing than he did against Army. Yes, they won, but WR Teddy Veal had the game of his life gaining 90 of his 123 yards on a 1st quarter bomb. Since both defenses struggle, inefficiency and turnovers will be a death sentence. Dontrell Hilliard will need to find the end-zone. Despite averaging 5.5 yards-per-carry, he has only found the end zone 6 times this season. And, of course, Tulane's defensive leaders will need to step up. Sure, Matt Davis isn't Trevone Boykin, but he's still a very athletic QB that has accounted for 25 scores so far this year, with 9 of them on the ground, which is one less than Tulane has as a team.

SMU:

Matt Davis needs to get in a groove early, either through the air or on the ground. I doubt Tulane has a DB that will be able to match Sutton's size at 6'4'' and 215 lbs. Take a few shots down the field early and let him get up and grab a few deep balls. Running backs Jones and West are both freshman, but now might be the time for Morris to put a little weight on their shoulders.

Prediction: SMU 35 - Tulane 21

SMU is simply more talented on the offensive side of the ball with Davis and Sutton. This will end up being the battle of which defense is going to end the season with a little pride. SMU has been through a gauntlet this year and since this is their final home game of the season, I see their defense showing a little bit of life. Even if both defenses have the tensile strength of a wet paper bag, Tulane doesn't have the horses on offense to keep up.

Houston is a team coming off a big win and potentially looking to next week. They are heading on the road into the cold to face a Connecticut team that is trying to salvage their season with a signature win and clinch bowl eligibility.

UConn comes in at 5-5 but don’t get it twisted, this is a good football team. Each of the Huskies losses has come to a team that was ranked at some point this season. [2]

Meanwhile the Cougars have beaten everyone that has been put in front of them so what will they need to do to continue the trend?

When the Cougars have the ball:

A major key for the Cougars, regardless of the quarterback, will be to get off to a fast start.

Through six weeks, Houston was one of two teams to score a touchdown on their first possession every game. Since then the Cougars haven’t done it once but have been redeemed by the fact they have outscored teams 217-89 in the second half.

This is a testament to the coaching staff but the most dangerous thing they can do is to give a team like UConn hope and let them stick around.

The Cougars bring their #8 rushing offense up against UConn’s #70 rush defense which does not bode well for the Huskies especially as the offensive line continues to improve by the week as the trio of freshmen gain experience.

The Huskies hang their hat on defense in the secondary where they are tied with Houston for seventh in the country with fifteen interceptions.

Last time out, sophomore defensive back Jamar Summers was named American Defensive Player of the Week when he returned one of those interceptions 67 yards for a touchdown to help the Huskies beat Tulane.

When the Huskies have the ball:

Unfortunately for UConn, the Summers interception was the only time they scored all game. The Huskies were held to season low 227 yards but had a bye week to fix their issues and game plan for the Cougars.

UConn comes in ranked 110th rushing the football and only slightly better through the air. The man behind the magic and best playmaker for the Huskies is sophomore running back Arkeel Newsome who leads the team in rushing and is second in receiving.

If the Cougars can corral Newsome it will be a long day for the Huskies. Expect safeties Trevon Stewart and Adrian McDonald to get the first shot with the heat-seeking missile turned linebacker Elandon Roberts and the athletic Tyus Bowser helping out as well.

Coming off a bye week, the Huskies should have new wrinkles to get Newsome the ball and probably a few tricks up their sleeve as well to complement their ‘nothing to lose’ mentality.

Summary

In a nutshell, the Cougars have to go on the road against a team that creates turnovers, does not give the ball away and doesn’t hurt itself with penalties. That’s usually a recipe for disaster for Houston, especially with UConn coming off a bye week, but not this time.

The Cougars jump all over the Huskies and take this one 38-13 moving Houston to 11-0 and adding to the lore of Tom Herman and a little something extra to next week’s match-up with Navy.

The future is bright for UConn as most of their playmakers are underclassmen but they fall to 5-6 on Senior Day and will need a win next week against Temple to gain bowl eligibility for the first time since 2010.

Good luck with that.

New Mexico State looks to play spoiler as they make the trip to Lafayette to face the Ragin' Cajuns in a game that Louisiana needs to stay bowl eligible.

New Mexico State-Louisiana

Live Stats: here.

Line: Louisiana -17. Over/Under 64.

New Mexico State Outlook: In surprising fashion, the Aggies head into this game on a two-game winning streak that moved them to 2-7 on the season.

The name of the game on offense for the Aggies is get the ball to Larry Rose III. The Sophomore is destroying school records with 1,290 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns in nine games this season. He is one of the biggest stories of the Sun Belt, dominating play with a 7.5 yards per carry average and two straight 200+ yard games.

Due almost entirely to his excellent play, the Aggies have the #3 ranked rushing IsoPPP, the #12 rushing S&P+, and the #33 success rate in the nation. Overall, Rose is accountable for 74.6% of NMSU's rushing yards on the season.

After a season ending injury to quarterback Tyler Rogers, the Aggies have been forced to go with a combination of Andrew Allen and Nick Jeanty. Jeanty looked very good in a dominant win over Texas State with 297 yards passing and two touchdowns. Expect to see him again versus Louisiana with Allen not expected to play.

Any combination of receivers Jordan Bergstrom, Tyrain Taylor, Teldrick Morgan, and Joshua Bowen could show up for the Aggies in the passing game. Rose is also active in the passing game with 276 yards receiving on 24 catches this fall.

Too bad the Aggies have to play defense as well. NMSU is giving up an astounding 542.7 yards per game of total offense on the season. That breaks down to 268.6 yards on the ground and 274.1 yards per game in the air. Teams can literally pick any way they feel like moving the ball versus the Aggies defense.

Players to watch on the NMSU defense include: Derek Ibekwe, Terrill Hanks, and Jacon Nwangwa.

Louisiana Outlook: Another week and another poor performance leave the Ragin' Cajuns closer and closer to staying home for the holidays.

It has been sad to watch one of the better rushing attacks in the nation slowly fade away. The Cajuns are still #30 nationally in rushing success rate, but have fallen to #93 in IsoPPP and #54 in rushing S&P+. Elijah McGuire has not been himself this season and it has come out this week that he has played through injuries this season. Even so, he is still on pace for a 1,000 yard season and 4.8 yards per carry.

Backing McGuire up is senior Torrey Pierce. The senior has gotten more and more action with the plethora of nagging injuries to McGuire. Quarterback Jalen Nixon is another solid ball carrier, but tends to mess up the offensive flow when inserted mid-drive at quarterback.

Junior quarterback Brooks Haack has been able to make the Cajuns passing game more effective with nearly 1,000 yards passing on the season. He has accomplished that despite seeing limited action earlier in the season with Nixon at quarterback.

Haack has found a connection with senior receiver Jamal Robinson. The 6-4 receiver has 33 a team-leading 558 yards receiving on the season. Al Riles, Gabe Fuselier, and Gary Haynes have been able to give the Cajuns three pass catching options at wide receiver. McGuire has also added 28 catches on the season.

It is hard to believe that the Cajuns were one of the best rush defenses in the nation in 2014. They are terrible this fall with the #103 ranked defensive rushing S&P+. Teams average 4.4 yards per carry and have found the end zone 14 times versus the Cajuns. The pass defense has been effective when successful, but they are terrible when giving up completions. Only five teams have a worse defensive passing IsoPPP than Louisiana.

Players to watch on the Louisiana defense include: Dominique Tovell, Otha Peters, and Savion Brown.

Prediction: Talk about two teams in different directions. The Ragin' Cajuns are at 4-5 on the season an need this win to put them on pace for a bowl berth. New Mexico State has looked very good when giving the ball to Rose and have two straight wins. Even with the much improved play by the Aggies, I have to take the Cajuns. Louisiana 31, NMSU 27.

Line: Middle Tennessee -24, O/U 63.5

Middle Tennessee is a much better team than their thoroughly mediocre record would have you believe. Once an arch-rival of North Texas, they have now made the transition to Bizarro North Texas, as both hired coaches with zero college head coach experience 8-9 years back. One, Todd Dodge, washed out in four years and was kicked back to the high school ranks. The other, Rick Stockstill, energized the team, took them to the top of the conference and a CUSA invite, and currently sits with a comfy 62-60 lifetime coaching record. Also like Dodge, he recruited his own son to the roster at QB. The similarities are insane, the next thing you'll tell me there are other FBS teams in the state that get way more attention and fan support.

Blue Raider Outlook:

While former North Texas QB Riley Dodge transferred to FCS McNeese State, upstart Brent Stockstill has thrown for 3100 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, completing 65% of his passes while also saving Metropolis from a meteor. The Blue Raiders are having all the success North Texas should've been, and even though WKU is having a little more, it's still hurtful.

Unlike, say, the Big 12 schedule-- which tends to be more backloaded-- the MTSU schedule is front-loaded with all the easy targets at the end, like Clemson. They're 5-5 with their last two games against UNT and UTSA, which might've looked impressive a year ago, but as of now will keep them off TV until bowl time.

Middle Tennesee has been blown out by teams with a strong offense (WKU, Alambama), run neck and neck with teams with a halfway decent defense (close loss to Illinois, close win over Marshall), and absolutely obliterated teams with neither (70+ points against Charlotte and FCS Jackon State). At this point in the season, the writing is on the wall. Barring the next meteor strike getting through, MTSU is a lock for 7-5 and a bowl game that ESPN makes condescending comments about.

North Texas Outlook:

Teams having a worse season than North Texas: UCF, ULM and arguably Kansas.

We'll tell ourselves it's unclear whether the 24-0 loss to Tennessee last week was due to stingy defense or a vaguely bored Volunteer secondary. DaMarcus Smith was at his usual 50% completion rate, tossing for a mere 100 yards. This was roughly the same number of yards North Texas had rushing.

In short, after Canales took a step back against Louisiana Tech the week before, he took another step back last week. If he wants the full time gig, he'll have to show us something, anything this week, playing on Senior Night in Murfreesboro, against a team fully expecting to do to UNT what the Volunteers did the week before. There is very little evidence to prove them wrong.

Prediction:

Middle Tennessee will go with their starters, at least for the first half, because they want to make sure this game is in the bag, and also impress potential bowl selectors. North Texas beat UTSA because they were hungry for a win, and while that will remain the case this week, UNT has already lost to Marshall big, and Marshall went toe-to-toe with MTSU for a 27-24 loss on Nov. 7. While it may be amusing to watch all the Big 12 teams beat each other as the season ends, CUSA is having no such trouble.

FINAL SCORE:

UNT previously lost to La Tech 56-13, and Marshall 30-13. Let's split the difference.

Middle Tennessee 43, North Texas 13

Much of the success for Charlotte on offense is from the running game. Leading rusher Kalif Phillips is listed as questonable, but will not be at 100% even if he does play. His ability to gain yards at a 5.1 yards per carry clip has kept the 49ers afloat this season.

If he cannot go, the job will go to Andrew Buie and Braden Smith. The sophomore Smith has shown the ability to make explosive runs in limited duty this fall. The only quarterback on Charlotte's roster that is somewhat effective in the passing game is Matt Johnson, but the 49ers tend to use multiple quarterabacks in every game.

To give you a sense of just how bad the Charlotte passing game is this fall, take a look at the leading passer on the season. Junior Lee McNeill holds that dubious distinction, but has one touchdown pass and 10 interceptions on the season. The only quarterback with a touchdown to interception rate of 1:1 or better is freshman Brooks Barden.

When passing the ball, Austin Duke, Trent Bostick, and T.L. Ford II are the best options. The trio have 93 catches for 1,077 yards and seven touchdowns. That is good for 58.4% of all receiving yards on the season. Overall, the 49ers average 184.4 yards per game in the air.

Despite the inflated numbers, the 49ers have not been a complete disaster on defense this fall. Most surprising is the fact that teams only rush for 3.9 yards per carry versus Charlotte. That is due in part to a stuff rate that ranks in the top 20 nationally, meaning the rush defense knows how to get in the backfield. Passing numbers tend to be a little harder on the eyes as Charlotte has a nice defensive success rate, but gives up way too many explosive plays. That is all part of the growing pains of a first year FBS program.

Players to watch on the Charlotte defense include: Larry Ogunjobi, Nick Cook, and Dequan Lucas.

Kentucky Outlook: The Wildcats welcome a respite from the demanding SEC slate they have faced this fall.

The Wildcats offense has been pretty much MIA this fall in only scoring over 30 points on two occasions. The last four weeks have been particularly dreadful with scoring totals of 16, 21, 3, and 17 in four straight losses. The running game has been solid with Stanley Williams, nicknamed Boom, rushing for 6.9 yards per carry. Jojo Kemp and Mikel Horton give him some rest, but do not have the same explosiveness of Williams.

Even with a run game that averages 4.3 yards per carry, the Wildcats somehow do not break the 150 yards per game barrier.

Passing the ball for Kentucky has been an adventure to say the least. Former top recruit Patrick Towles has been unable to live up to the hype. His 55.9% completion rate is evident of the basic fact that accuracy is everything in the passing game. Talented targets Dorian Baker, Garrett Johnson, and Jeff Badet have been unable to make a significant impact on the season with all three having catch rates under 62%.

Freshman Drew Barker is the other option behind center, but followed up a touchdown pass with an ugly pick six in a loss to Vanderbilt.

Despite a significant lack of offense, the Wildcats defense has been much better than the numbers indicate. They rank in the top 50 in defensive IsoPPP and points allowed per trip inside the 40 yard line. The problem is the fact that with a bad offense, they end up on the field way too often and fall apart due to fatigue. Expect Charlotte to challenge them with the running game.

Players to watch on the Kentucky defense include: Josh Forrest, Cory Johnson, and Khalid Henderson.

Prediction: I cannot see any way that this game does not get ugly. Kentucky is still within reach of a bowl berth and must win this game to keep their hopes alive. Charlotte is in shock after blowing a late lead in a loss to UTSA. Kentucky 42, Charlotte 10.

If you're a fan of Georgia Southern there's a good chance you live in Georgia, and if you live in Georgia there's a good chance you know a lot about UGA football simply through osmosis. The Bulldogs get more column inches, more air time and more rack space than any other sports team in this state, for better or worse, which is why it's always an exciting game for Georgia Southern fans.

The story this season is the louder-than-ever calls for UGA to end the Mark Richt era, even if he is a nice guy with a nice F-150.

Georgia's offense has been sluggish to the point that Richt started third-string quarterback Faton Bauta in the Florida game because why not. It didn't work, and the Bulldogs lost three games in a four-game stretch before taking the last two against Kentucky and Auburn.

Georgia's defense has played well, ranking fourth in the SEC in total defense and allowing just 139.6 ground yards per game, so the Eagles might have trouble running through Georgia's ass like shit through a tin horn.

Georgia did give up 213 ground yards against Auburn last week and won't see anything like the Fritzkreig the rest of the year.

The key matchup for the entire game will be how Georgia's defensive front looks against Georgia Southern's O-line. The Eagles ran all over seven teams on the schedule, which is why they lead the country in rushing yards per game at 379 and four players have rushed for at least 557 yards and six touchdowns.

The Bulldogs will look to emulate both sets of Mountaineers the Eagles have faced. West Virginia spent the whole game in Southerns' backfield, disrupting any attempt at an offensive threat. Georgia Southern resorted to passing in the second half, to disastrous results (three third-quarter interceptions). Final score? 44-0.

Appalachian State made defensive adjustments after Southern ran in an early touchdown, and the Eagles wouldn't score again until garbage time.

Georgia's offense gets plenty of criticism, but quarterback Grayson Lambert isn't bad on paper. He's got 10 touchdown throws to two interceptions, completes nearly 2/3rds of his passes with just under eight yards per attempt. And while Sony Michel is no Nick Chubb he's still a good running back.

A key for the Eagles will be utilizing an interception-happy defense (14 on the year) to gain a few extra possessions and stay in the game.

Georgia Southern Outlook

42:55.

If there's one wow stat from this entire season it's that. Georgia Southern held possession for nearly three full quarters of last week's game against Troy. You know what that means: A tired defense, frustrated offense sitting on the bench and lots of chances for the Eagles to score on a missed assignment.

If the TOP number is anywhere that one the Eagles can walk out of Sanford Stadium with a win.

Oh, and Georgia Southern absolutely, positively MUST have its possessions end in touchdowns, field goals and punts. There are other ways for drives to end that we won't mention here.

For the first time all season, the Eagles also displayed a passing threat last week. Kevin Ellison hit a wide-open James Dean for a touchdown. Favian Upshaw hit BJ Johnson for a big gain that should have been a score, and a third time Ellison overthrew Derek Keaton. All three times the receiver was insanely, ridiculously open in the center of the field. All you need is a few of those to keep the defense honest.

That said, Troy's defense ain't Georgia's defense.

Johnson is GSU's leading receiver, played in his first game back from injury against Troy and seemed to make an immediate impact, which could signal a trend. One more offensive stat: The Eagles have converted 11 straight fourth down tries. Look for them to keep trying.

Southern's defense, led by safeties Matt Dobson and Antonio Glover along with linebacker Ironhead Gallon, has quietly put together a strong season as well. The unit ranks second in the Sun Belt in points allowed (22.8) and yards (343.9) per game, is third in pass yards allowed (1,856 total) and first in rush yards allowed (1,239 total).

UGA's team is filled with bigger, taller players that will try the Eagle defense in many ways. Look for a couple of long passes early where Lambert will try and use the height advantage at receiver to turn in a big gain.

Prediction: This one could get interesting. Georgia and Georgia Southern have met five times, with the Dogs winning by at least 20 points each time. This go around, the spread sits at just 13, meaning a lot of folks think it will be closer than ever before.

If the Eagles really do pull this thing off we're likely looking at a "two-coacher:" Georgia's coach is fired, Georgia Southern's takes a promotion to Brand Name University.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. All I'm going to say is take the points and the Eagles. We'll see you Saturday night.

Line: Idaho +34. Over/Under 62.5.

Idaho Outlook: The Vandals are coming off of a three-game losing streak in which they held a 20 point lead at halftime in two of those losses.

Looking at the statistics of starting running back Elijhaa Penny, the Vandals look to be very impressive in the run game. Outside of Penny, there is little to speak of with backup Aaron Duckworth only averaging 3.3 yards per carry. The third leading rusher on the team is quarterback Matt Linehan with 193 yards rushing on the season.

Very few teams in the nation are as dependent on one player in the rush game as Idaho is with Penny. Overall, the Vandals rush for only 144.4 yards per game as a team.

In a season that saw leading receiver Dezmon Epps lost for the season, and his entire Vandals career, due to an off the field issue, Idaho has seen several receivers step forward. Callen Hightower, Trent Cowan, and Deon Watson have been able to fill the hold left by the departure of Epps with the trio combining for 108 catches on the season.

Quarterback Matt Linehan has been fairly accurate at 63.6%, but has not found the end zone as often as needed for the Vandals to be successful. Much of that has to be attributed to the 6-3 quarterback being only a sophomore. He has significant room for improvement throughout his career.

Sadly, we need to talk about the Idaho defense. It is one of the worst in the nation, especially versus the run. Teams are rushing for 6.6 yards per carry and nearly 300 yards per game versus Idaho.

To put into good perspective, only Georgia Southern, Navy, Air Force, Oregon, and Baylor rush for more than the 279.1 yards per game allowed by the Vandals. On the bright side, Idaho only gives up 209.8 yards per game in the air. Overall, Idaho gives up 488.9 yards per game of total offense.

Players to watch on the Idaho defense include: Broc Westlake, Quinton Bradley, and Chris Edwards.

Auburn Outlook: With a matchup versus Alabama on the horizon, the Tigers desperately need a win over Idaho.

The strength of the Tigers offense in in the running game. The boast the #18 success rate, a top 10 stuff rate allowed, and a top 45 rushing S&P+. With running backs Peyton Barber and Jovon Robinson, they have a couple of very talented players.

The problem that faces Auburn in the run game is the inability to go the distance. They are second to last in the nation in explosive running plays, severely inhibiting the ability to score points. Overall, the Tigers rush for 191.3 yards per game.

The Auburn passing game is downright weird. They have found more success with Sean White behind center, but he has only thrown for one touchdown in six games played. His 57.7% completion rate is also worrisome.

When White and company do complete passes, they are going to Ricardo Louis. The Senior is targeted on 29.3% of all pass attempts and has a 14.6 yards per catch average. Behind Louis, the only players with double digit catches on the season are Marcus Davis, Melvin Ray, D'haquille Williams, Roc Thomas, and Kerryon Johnson.

After getting heaped with lots of praise heading into the season, the Auburn defense has been a bit of a disappointment this fall. They have been scorched for 45 by LSU and 54 by Arkansas while unable to hold any opponent under 10 points. The positive for Auburn is much improved play versus Texas A&M and Georgia. If Idaho is going to have much luck versus the Tigers defense, it will be in the running game.

Players to watch on the Auburn defense include: Cassanova McKinzy, Johnathan Ford, and Carlton Davis.

Prediction: On paper, this should be an absolute bloodbath. The problem is that Auburn has played down to their opponents on multiple occasions. I expect that to be the case for a while before Auburn pulls away in the second half. Auburn 45, Idaho 13.

Line: Georgia State -3. Over/Under 61.5.

South Alabama Outlook: The Jaguars look to be in solid shape for a bowl berth after beating the Ragin' Cajuns last week.

While finding other receivers more often in the most recent win, the inability of quarterback Cody Clements to connect with anyone that was not a former UAB teammate is still an issue. Former UAB players Gerald Everett, Josh Magee, and D.J. Vinson are still the top three on the team in total catches. Only Marvin Shinn has been targets more often than Everett, Magee, or Vinson. The trio also account for 11 of the teams 14 touchdown catches on the season. Everett in particular has been phenomenal with a team-leading 35 catches for 498 yards and eight touchdowns.

Outside of the UAB trio, Marvin Shinn, Danny Woodson, and Braedon Bowman have stepped up in the passing game and should give Clements more options versus a Georgia State secondary that can be burned.

With a success rate in the mid 90s and a IsoPPP in the top 50, it is all or nothing for the Jaguars running game. Sophomore Xavier Johnson has been up and down this season, but has rushed for 769 yards and seven touchdowns on the year. Backups Tyreis Thomas and Terrance Timmons have been solid, but not as explosive as Johnson. Neither come close to his 7.2 yards per carry average. The Jaguars rush for 164.8 yards per game as a team.

The South Alabama defense finally looked adequate versus the run in defeating Louisiana last week. Otherwise, they have been very porous in giving up 198.8 yards per game and 4.9 yards per carry.

The Jaguars are a little better versus the pass with the #45 ranked defensive success rate in the nation. The only problem remains is the tendency to give up explosive passing plays when they know the pass is coming. Expect Georgia State to go for the homerun on several occasions.

Players to watch on the South Alabama defense include: Blake Dees, Jeremy Reaves, and DeMarion Harper.

Georgia State Outlook: The Panthers have been slowly morphing into a team that could pull an upset down the stretch versus a good team.

Forever their Achilles heel, the Panthers have improved on defense in recent weeks. A 4.6 yards per carry allowed is not good, but the number has dropped from higher than 5.0 earlier in the season. Even the pass defense that is giving up over 250 yards per game has seen their defensive production increase along with better overall play by the entire team. Even so, the Panthers are still below average overall on defense and should give up quite a few points.

Players to watch on the Georgia State defense include: Alonzo McGee, Joseph Peterson, and Tarris Batiste.

On offense, passing the ball is virtually the only option with a non-existent running game. The Panthers do not even break 100 yards per game on the ground, in addition to a paltry 3.2 yards per carry average. Demarcus Kirk and Kyler Neal are the top options, but neither have broken the 350 yard mark on the season.

Passing is another story entirely as Nick Arbuckle has been able to dominate most of the Sun Belt's passing categories. He has thrown for 3,135 yards and 20 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 63.8%. The Panthers throw for 348.3 yards per game as a team.

Catching the majority of those passes is the duo of Penny Hart and Robert Davis. The duo have stepped up with 98 catches for 1,643 yards and nine touchdowns. Hart has been especially impressive in doing this as a true freshman. Arbuckle has been able to spread the ball around a bit more to Donovan Harden, Todd Boyd, and tight end Keith Rucker, to give the Panthers five solid receivers.

Prediction: This game could literally go in any direction. I would not be surprised to see either team pull out the win. South Alabama needs this win badly. South Alabama 31, Georgia State 28.
