Hopkins is a 6'2" 189 pound dual-threat quarterback from Maryville, Tennessee, and held offers from Tulane, Southern Miss, Temple and App State among others. Hopkins is rated as the 45th best dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class and the 52nd best prospect in Tennessee per 247 Sports.
Hopkins is now the best prospect in UAB’s 2018 class and is an intriguing fit in Clark’s system. From what we know of Clark’s previous UAB team, he used a run-heavy pro-style offense that employed a traditional drop back passer. From looking at Hopkins’ highlights, he doesn’t fit that bill, as he is extremely mobile on top of his ability to sling it.
We could potentially see a full-on spread offense from UAB in the near future and with UAB only having upperclassmen signal callers currently on the roster, Dylan Hopkins appears to be the favorite to lead the way.
