Georgia State Recruiting: Let's Take a Look at that Signing Class

It's National Signing Day and the Panthers have brought in their best class ever.

Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

Happy National Signing Day folks! Though its history as a football program has been short, the Georgia State Panthers have brought in their best signing class ever.

247Sports has State's class listed as the 126th-best in the country and 10th-best in the Sun Belt.

The class itself features 19 total players, with three of them being rated as three-star prospects.

Malik Besseck OL 6-4, 270 lbs. Unrated Robbinsdale Armstrong (Minneapolis, Minn.)
Zeke Pernell OL 6-5, 260 lbs. Unrated Jackson (Jackson, Ala.)
Eric Elder WR 6-1, 177 lbs. 2-star (0.7586) Stephenson (Stone Mountain, Ga.)

Quion Gilmore OL 6-3, 263 lbs. Unrated Drew (Riverdale, Ga.)

In addition to these 19 new recruits, the Panthers also add three greyshirt players from the last recruiting cycle in OLB Javonte Lain (6-3, 215 lbs.), ILB Charlie Patrick (6-0, 220 lbs.) and WR Matlin Marshall (5-9, 185 lbs.) The Panthers also added three transfer students in QB Connor Manning (6-1, 205 lbs.) from Utah, TE Hunter Atkinson (6-5, 260 lbs.) from UGA and OLB Andrew Everett (6-5, 225 lbs.) from Old Dominion.

So What's Next?

Now that Georgia State has signed everybody that had committed to play for the Panthers and also added a few transfers, the Panthers' coaching and recruiting staff will get to work for next year. You can search through the different recruiting databases and see that the staff has already gotten started with offering new players. Expect to see a lot more of that.

Bringing in their best signing class ever in addition to having their best season in the history of the program is definitely a positive step for the program. The key for them, though, will be to keep the momentum going, which I fully expect them to do.

As for what's next in terms of coverage, I will be breaking down each of these recruits by looking at their film and whether or not they'll have an impact in this coming season. I'll conclude that series with a cumulative post that will focus on projection dates for these players. I'll be looking at the earliest I expect them to make an impact.
