Antwione Williams became the first Georgia Southern Eagle taken during the 2016 NFL Draft, being selected by the Detroit Lions with pick #169.
Williams recorded a career-high 107 total tackles and forced four fumbles, a definite difference maker in the GS defense. He recorded 18.5 tackles for loss in his lat two years, showing an ability to get through the line and make stops.
The two-time All-Sun Belt honorable mention winner will have the potential to learn while in Detroit. With most of the linebackers from last year's team returning, the best thing for Williams may be a year or two of development to work himself into the league.
Congratulations to Antwione Williams and the Georgia Southern Eagles for sending another player to the NFL.
