Marshall Football Will Live Under the Lights in 2016

Herd fans rejoice, when Marshall plays at home this season you have all afternoon to tailgate before kickoff.

With the 2016 kickoff rapidly approaching, Marshall football released its television schedule today, with all but two games having announced kickoff times. 11 of the 12 of the Herd's contests will appear on television across four different providers with the game versus Pitt yet to be picked up.

CBS Sports Network nabbed Marshall's second and third games of the year with ESPN agreeing to air the season finale against Western Kentucky on a member of its network. The American Sports Network will broadcast six of the Herd's affairs, with the newest member to the Conference USA family of networks, beIN SPORTS, airing two.

The Herd will enjoy at least five of its seven home games this season under the lights, with Akron kicking off at noon and the finale with WKU yet to have an announced kickoff time.

Marshall welcomes Morgan State, Akron and Louisville in consecutive weekends to open the 2016 campaign before heading to Pittsburgh Oct. 1 for its first road game of the year to close nonconference play.

The Herd will open conference play in Denton, TX in a matchup with North Texas. Marshall's remaining CUSA road games include Southern Miss, Old Dominion and FIU.

Marshall entertains FAU, Charlotte, Middle Tennessee and WKU at Joan C. Edwards this season in CUSA play. The Herd defeated FAU and Charlotte last season while falling to MTSU and WKU, both on the road.

"We are extremely fortunate this year to, not only have seven home games, but that at least five of them will be evening starts," Marshall Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick said in a press release. "Additionally, having what should be a nationally-ranked Louisville team play here should also be a treat for our fans. This is our most attractive home schedule in quite some time and I know our faithful will respond."

The 2016 CUSA Championship game will air on either ESPN or ESPN2 Saturday, Dec. 3. It marks the 12th consecutive season ESPN has aired the title game.
