For North Texas fans, nothing would be more satisfying than opening their season with a second straight dominant win against the rival ponies at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. If you don’t believe me, just look up to the sky above the SMU campus before the teams take the field next Saturday.
Mean Green fans are literally putting their money where their mouths are to purchase a "Go Mean Green" banner to be flown above the SMU stadium prior to next Saturday’s game. According to the GoFundMe page, "the banner cost is $1,200 and the Flight is $900." As of September 5th, $1,725 has been raised by the Mean Green faithful to show support and get under the skin of SMU.
I may not be a flight expert, but $900 seems like a hefty price for someone to fly a banner around for an hour. For $900 I'm expecting to see all sorts of fancy air tricks during the pre-game boulevard activities. Jokes aside, this is honestly a really smart strategy if you think about it. Now regardless of if the team can pull off the win or not, the over 4,000 Mean Green fans will get a nice air show for free.
It' a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off.
