FAU Schedules 2020, 2022 Football Series With USF

Last time was fun. Lets do it again.

It's always fun to see in-state schools play each other with bragging rights on the line.

FAU announced Wednesday that they have scheduled a home-and-home football series with USF for the 2020 and 2022 football season. The game in 2020 will take place on September 26 at FAU Stadium. The Owls will then travel to Tampa and play in Raymond James Stadium on September 17, 2022.

USF leads the overall series between the two schools 3-1 but FAU won the last game 28-10 in 2003 in Tampa. The Bulls have yet to play in FAU Stadium. The last time USF traveled to FAU for a road game the Owls were playing miles away from campus at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

FAU's 2020 non-conference schedule has one spot left open now as the Owls will also travel to Illinois on September 5 earlier that year. The 2022 schedule currently has two spots open.

In the last few years FAU has played traditional powerhouses in Alabama, Auburn Florida, Nebraska, Miami (FL), and Georgia out of conference with a few of those games taking place in the same year. Some of those games were scheduled under former Athletic Director Craig Angelos. Under current Athletic Director Pat Chun, the Owls appear to be going a different route as only Wisconsin (2017) and Oklahoma (2018) would qualify as games FAU would be huge underdogs in and in those two years in particular, there isn't another Power 5 Conference team on the schedule the Owls would play.

Earlier this year FAU scheduled a home-and-home football series with UCF for the 2018 and 2019 football season. The only FBS school FAU has yet to play in the state of Florida is Florida State. Both schools have open dates in the 2022 football season so maybe they will get together then.
