Ronald Blair of Appalachian State selected by San Francisco with 142nd pick of 2016 NFL Draft

Blair becomes second Underdog selected in this year's fifth round.

After capping off his college career with the Sun Bell Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year Award and a first team all conference nod, Appalachian State Mountaineers defensive end Ronald Blair was selected with pick #142 by the San Francisco 49ers.

Blair led the Sun Belt last year with 19 tackles for a loss while registering 7.5 sacks, 71 total tackles, a forced fumble and an interception.

Coming into San Francisco will be interesting for Blair, as the team is in a definite rebuild mode after a series of poor seasons. If all goes right for him during training camp, we could very well see Blair make the case for a roster spot.

Congratulations to Ronald Blair and Appalachian State for sending another player to the NFL.
