One Underdog makes the Dodd Trophy Watch List and that's some lazy bull.

Officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl today created a bullshit 2016 Dodd Trophy watch list.

Tom Herman was the only Underdog the Dodd Trophy folks could think of to put on their watch list.

Society is rarely lazier than when it comes time to evaluate Group of Five teams and talent. Preseason G5 conference predictions from supposed experts like Fox Sports are notoriously terrible. But this bullshit watch list from the Dodd Trophy folks is especially wretched in its naked lethargy.

Listen, nobody is disputing Tom Herman's inclusion on any list of outstanding college football coaches. Great work, Tom! But the Dodd Trophy Watch List isn't celebrating Herman's magical season with the Houston Cougars or his (remotely attainable) potential for finally cracking the heavily unbalanced College Football Playoffs. It's simply regurgitating the only Group of Five name the Dodd people know.

Twenty-four coaches appear on the Dodd Trophy Watch List, and six of them have already won the damn thing once (for maximum apathy). All of the usual, uninspired, celebrity selections are there:  Dabo Swinney, Bob Stoops, Nick Saban, Mike Gundy, Jimbo Fischer. Sometimes, the list sorta steps out on a ledge by selecting rookie head coaches like Kirby Smart and Clay Helton – two coaches afforded some of the finest facilities and bloated budgets in college football. Mostly, this list is putrid crap.

These guys coach the most talented players in the United States! The Dodd Foundation acts like the aristocracy of the Privileged Five is somehow making bricks without straw. You try winning games on ULM's budget, an then we'll talk.

This is on you, officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. It's obvious that you spent about 10 minutes creating this lackadaisical atrocity of a list. But rest assured, I'll make sure the Underdogs know how much you approve of the one Group of Five coach you think is worthy of touching your damn trophy.
