Following Curt Cignetti’s move to become the head coach at Indiana, James Madison quarterback Jordan McCloud announced Friday evening that he had decided to enter the transfer portal.

McCloud has one year of eligibility remaining.

Cignetti also announced that JMU’s offensive and defensive coordinators would be following him to Indiana.

McCloud was named the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year earlier this week. McCloud threw for 3413 yards this season with a 68.9 completion percentage. He also threw 32 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He also rushed for eight touchdowns and 311 yards, helping lead JMU to an 11-1 record.

JMU will learn their bowl fate on Sunday afternoon. It was not immediately clear whether or not McCloud will play in the bowl game.

Prior to James Madison, McCloud spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with Arizona and the 2019 and 2020 seasons with South Florida. McCloud is a native of Tampa, Florida, where he finished his prep years with Plant High School.
