Liberty Go 12-0, Celebrate With Mariachi Band In Locker Room

The Flames set a program record and tied a CUSA record on Saturday

Jamey Chadwell’s first season at the helm of the #25 Liberty Flames has gone extremely well.

After already locking up a spot in next week’s CUSA championship game, Liberty finished the regular season with a 42-28 win at UTEP on Saturday. Liberty rushed for 441 yards in the win. That makes the Flames 12-0 with just the championship game to play prior to a bowl game.

The Flames are the third CUSA team to finish the regular season undefeated (2011 Houston, 1998 Tulane).

Liberty celebrated with local festivities, including a mariachi band upon returning to their locker room.

The current 12-game winning streak is the longest in Liberty’s program history. It ‘s the first perfect regular season in Liberty history. They’ll try to make it 13 next Friday when they host New Mexico State in the CUSA championship game.

Liberty won their first meeting with New Mexico State this year by a score of 33-17. The Aggies also capped their regular season with a win on Saturday, bringing their record to 10-3.
