The Sam Houston Bearkats picked up their third win of the year in their final game of their first season as an FBS competitor on Saturday. Visitors Middle Tennessee missed what would have been the game-tying kick in the closing seconds from 47 yards out.
After the miss, Sam Houston players appeared to engage in dialogue with MTSU kicker Zeke Rankin, which prompted other Blue Raider players to come to his defense in a physical sense.

The ESPN+ broadcast quickly cut away from the incident, but not before footage was posted to social media.
Both the Bearkats and the Blue Raiders will miss the postseason this year. Sam Houston finished 3-9 while MTSU finishes 4-8. Sam Houston were winners of three of their last four games after starting the season 0-8. Their previous three losses were by a touchdown or less.
MTSU will not play inn a bowl game for the first time since 2020.
