The 2020 season came to a close for the Georgia State Panthers and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Saturday. That ended in a 39-21 victory for the Panthers in the LendingTree Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.
With the victory, the Panthers get their program’s second bowl win and improve their overall bowl record to 2-2. Their other bowl victory also came against Western Kentucky back in the 2017 Cure Bowl.
The Panthers took a 27-7 lead into halftime and never looked back. Cornelius “Quad” Brown IV threw four touchdown passes with Mikele Colasurdo also adding a touchdown pass. All of Brown’s touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter. Georgia State’s passing attack totaled 257 yards with another 227 rushing yards added.
On the rushing side, Georgia State’s Destin Coates totaled 117 yards, his second highest total of the season, and a touchdown on 23 carries.
WKU quarterback Tyrell Pigrome entered the game with no interceptions on the season, but threw two in this game. The Tops totaled just 284 yards on the day.
Georgia State also had 27 first downs to Western Kentucky’s 14.
The Panthers end the season 6-4 and the Tops end their season with a 5-7 record.
