Middle Tennessee head coach Rick Stockstill will be without one of Conference USA’s top players, as two-year starting quarterback Asher O’Hara announced his entry to the transfer portal on Thursday. The redshirt junior appeared in 23 games over three seasons as a Blue Raider and earned the starting nod 21 times.

As a sophomore, he was one of two quarterbacks in FBS football to throw for over 2,500 yards and rush for 1,000, with the other being former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts. This season, he got off to a lackluster start before rebounding following a come-from-behind victory over FIU to throw for 1,960 yards and account for 19 total touchdowns.
The suburban Chicago native played a season at the College of Dupage before joining the Blue Raiders in 2018, where he backed up Stockstill’s son Brent before taking over as starter prior to the 2019 season.
O’Hara finishes his Blue Raiders’ career throwing for 4,690 passing yards and 32 touchdowns along with over 1,700 yards on the ground and 17 scores.
The only remaining quarterbacks on the roster for Rick Stockstill who have game experience are redshirt junior Chase Cunningham and redshirt sophomore Mike Diliello.
