Choosing C-USA...but spooky!

Well, we’ve already had two previously scheduled games for this weekend called off with the FIU-Marshall matchup and the meeting between UTEP and North Texas. It is Halloween weekend though, so we were bound to have a few tricks.

Hopefully this weekend’s remaining C-USA action provides plenty of treats.

#11 BYU Cougars vs Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

WKU just can’t seem to keep the right people healthy. While their defense played a great game against FCS foe Chattanooga, BYU is a much tougher beast to keep in the cage. The Cougars are an easy pick here.

Florida Atlantic Owls vs UTSA Roadrunners

Jeff Traylor has UTSA in a really good place at the moment. While there’s no doubt that FAU have a lot of talent. The infrequency with which they’re able to play games, however, makes it especially hard to get some positive momentum going. UTSA will come in for another upset here.

Southern Miss Golden Eagles vs Rice Owls

Southern Miss are definitely down in the dumps at the moment after losing their second head coach of the season. That being said, Jack Abraham is going to be the best football player on the field on Saturday. I think Abraham carries his Golden Eagles squad to a win.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs UAB Blazers

The Blazers were just a few crucial mistakes away from a win against the Ragin’ Cajuns on Saturday. The Bulldogs are a talented bunch themselves, but just don’t seem to be up to the level of the Blazers, who have the #3 defense in C-USA and Spencer Brown (the C-USA leader in rushing touchdowns). UAB are the pick.

Duke Blue Devils vs Charlotte 49ers

Duke are not off to the best start at 1-5. However, with Charlotte being the one non-P5 opponent on their schedule this year, it stands to reason that they’ll be ready to take out some frustration. Charlotte do have some positive momentum going winning their last two games, however. I expect Duke to win in a pretty close game.
