P6 Pick’em Week 5: UConn’s in trouble

We have a new leader even after a terrible week for everyone.

NCAA Football: SMU at Texas Christian Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Well, last week was horrendous. Only Eric and Mike got points, with both of them moving up in the standings and Mike taking first place. Temple didn’t do anyone any favors in their loss to Buffalo, and we went 0-for-10 in our Upset and Blowout picks. Hopefully this week results in some better picking.

Standings

Mike: 27
Joe S: 25
Eric: 24
Fans: 22
Joe B: 20

Lock (1 point): You pick anyone you want (within the AAC games). Even if it’s a non-conference game, you can pick the opposing team. This is a pick you’re extremely confident in, and likely won’t lose.

Blowout (2 points): This is just AAC teams. You will pick which AAC team will win by the most points. It’ll most likely be a blowout, but even if that team only wins by 10, it counts in this category.

Upset (3 points): We’re counting this as any team that’s not favored. It could be their +1 or +35, doesn’t matter. You’re picking a team that’s not the favorite to win that particular game, not cover the spread.

Use ‘Em and Lose ‘Em (4 points): There are 12 teams in the AAC. You get to pick one team per week, and then you cannot pick them again. So, if you pick UCF, you lose them. Your list of teams to pick from will obviously decrease as the season progresses.

**NOTE: ALL GAMES PICKED ARE AAC GAMES ONLY

FOR OUR FANS/READERS: All of your picks are decided by a vote. The option in each category with the most votes will be your selection each week.

**Any picks left unanswered will result in forefeits

Lock

Mike: Yeaaaah I I have no choice but to take UCF over UConn. Sorry guys.

Joe B: There’s no easier guarantee than UCF to destroy UConn this week. Dillon Gabriel and the Knights will bounce back.

Joe S: You are going to see a reoccurring theme with my picks this week. UCF wins easily.

Eric: The streak is over. As I’m crying Knights’ tears, UCF by 100 over UConn.

Blowout

Mike: I’ll tell you what just to be be outside the box and different give me SMU to blow out USF. Sonny Dykes’ team is for real.

Joe B: It’s probably repetitive by now, but UCF will take a bunch of frustration out on the Huskies this week.

Joe S: UCF gets UConn after their first regular season loss since 2016. They might aim for 70 points this week.

Eric: All jokes aside, I think UCF is out to prove that they’re still the best G5 team in the nation. I’d genuinely be surprised if this isn’t at least a 35-point win.

Upset

Mike: I really like Cincinnati but I could see this Marshall defense really giving the Bearcat offense fits. Give me the Herd.

Joe B: None of the lines are enticing. Houston against North Texas is intriguing but I think ECU will be a better bet to pull off the upset.

Joe S: I honestly don’t like any of the underdogs chances this week, but I’ll go with the one with the closest line and take ECU.

Eric: Doing this to break up the monotony and because IF the Herd can play their A game, they have a shot against Cincy. Give me Marshall.

Use ‘Em and Lose ‘Em

Mike: I have to be lame here and pick UCF and this seems like the best week to use them. This is basically a UConn slam piece isn’t it?

Joe B: Gotta use them at some point, so I’ll take UCF.

Joe S: It’s that time of the season where I’ll use the team that is playing UConn every week in this section. I’m picking UCF again here.

Eric: Can’t use UCF, so I’ll take Memphis.
