P6 Pick’em: An AAC West race takes shape

Tulane and Houston face off in a big AAC West showdown.

We finally have some separation. Joe S takes the lead after a great 10 point week. Everyone else is right behind him, and one week can change things up again. As for AAC action, UCF gets another chance to beat a Power 5 team, Temple moves on from their huge win, and Houston and Tulane square off in an AAC West showdown.

Standings

Mike: 22

Eric: 20
Joe B: 20

Lock (1 point): You pick anyone you want (within the AAC games). Even if it’s a non-conference game, you can pick the opposing team. This is a pick you’re extremely confident in, and likely won’t lose.

Blowout (2 points): This is just AAC teams. You will pick which AAC team will win by the most points. It’ll most likely be a blowout, but even if that team only wins by 10, it counts in this category.

Upset (3 points): We’re counting this as any team that’s not favored. It could be their +1 or +35, doesn’t matter. You’re picking a team that’s not the favorite to win that particular game, not cover the spread.

Use ‘Em and Lose ‘Em (4 points): There are 12 teams in the AAC. You get to pick one team per week, and then you cannot pick them again. So, if you pick UCF, you lose them. Your list of teams to pick from will obviously decrease as the season progresses.

**NOTE: ALL GAMES PICKED ARE AAC GAMES ONLY

FOR OUR FANS/READERS: All of your picks are decided by a vote. The option in each category with the most votes will be your selection each week.

**Any picks left unanswered will result in forefeits

Lock

Mike: To be different from everyone else here, I’ll take Indiana to beat UConn as my lock. I love going out on a limb...

Joe B: UCF got a huge win against Stanford, and they’ll get another on on the road against Pitt.

Joe S: Temple just knocked off a ranked team and gets a revenge game this week. Owls win pretty convincingly.

Eric: If last week didn’t prove to you that the UCF Knights are the real deal, I don’t know what else they can do. I’ll take them as my lock for virtually the rest of the season.

Blowout

Mike: After blowing out Stanford I fully expect UCF to do the same thing to a Pitt team coming off a heartbreaking loss to Penn State.

Joe B: UCF will take it to Pitt even though they’re on the road. I can’t see anyone else producing a huge blowout.

Joe S: Sticking with Temple here. Most of this team hasn’t forgotten last year’s loss and run up the score.

Eric: I believe that UCF are on a mission to show that they’re more than a one-man team and that they’re deserving of a spot in the College Football Playoff. Furthermore, Josh Heupel doesn’t take his foot off the gas, so they’ll blowout Pitt.

Upset

Mike: I wanna pick Houston but I’m REALLY high on this Tulane team. Give my Wyoming to knock off Tulsa. Tulsa fans already don’t like me so might as well.

Joe B: Give me Houston to upset Tulane on the road Thursday night. D’Eriq King and the offense finally explode like we expected them to earlier this season.

Joe S: Wyoming might be the best choice, but I’m going to go with Houston as well.

Eric: I’ll take UConn to upset Indiana.....sike. I’m not trying to hear Broback (who’s next to me in last) tell me about finishing last for a second-straight season, so I’ll take Houston over Tulane.

Use ‘Em and Lose ‘Em

Mike: Give me ECU to beat Big Bill & Mary. Hope it works out for me.

Joe B: I’m taking Temple this week. If they lose to Buffalo, then I don’t know what to think anymore.

Joe S: Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but give me Temple one more time. I’ve already used ECU, and this is the only other game I’m feeling confident about inside the conference.

Eric: Give me ECU over William and Mary - and I’ll hope for the best.
