The SB Nation FanPulse Poll results for Week 2 have been released, and it’s another week in which the Power Five bias really shows in the fan rankings.
The UCF Knights fell two spots, from No. 16 to No. 18, despite starting the season 2-0 after a 48-14 win over FAU this weekend. The Knights have outscored their opponents 110-14 through two games, but that’s clearly not enough to impressive the fan vote, despite moving up a spot in both the AP and Coaches Poll.
Washington has no business being ahead of UCF in this poll. The Knights have an opportunity to defeat a Pac-12 opponent this week when they take on Stanford at home. Stanford was ranked 24th in the FanPulse Poll last week, but fell out of the rankings with the loss to USC. The Trojans are now the last team to make it into the rankings.
The biggest miss is the Boise State Broncos failing to crack the poll once again. Although they are ranked 22nd in the national polls, the Broncos are just outside the top 25 in the SB Nation FanPulse Poll. We believe in the Broncos as they are our top G5 team in our Underdog Top 10, over UCF. Iowa State continuing to be ranked ahead of them is an atrocity.
Army and Memphis also received substantial votes by the readers to be mentioned by our data gathers at SB Nation. Memphis is 2-0 and expected to be favored in the rest of their regular season games. Army had a terrific opportunity to make waves in the rankings with an upset at Michigan, but got a little too cute for themselves with a late interception in the red zone ultimately costing them.
Below you can find the ballot that was voted upon by our readers here at Underdog Dynasty. Our readers listed UCF at No. 12, six spots ahead of their ranking around the SB Nation community. No arguments from us here about that. Boise just made the list at No. 24, but still behind Iowa State, which I cannot understand.
