Breathe it in, folks.
Breathe.
It.
In.
Sun Belt has its triumphant return this week with so many storylines ready to unfurl.
Every week, we’ll be predicting scores for the Top 5 most intriguing Sun Belt games straight up.
That’s right. No spread-saving lifeline. We encourage you to comment with your own predictions and play right along with us.
So without further adieu...
Mississippi State at Louisiana (Saturday at 12 p.m. EST)
Josh: Mississippi St. 38, Louisiana 24. Ragin’ Cajuns hang tough through halftime, but Bulldog defense grounds running game in second half.
Aikman: Mississippi St. 44, Louisiana 21. I cant buy into this defense not giving up alot of points to the Bulldogs. To much size, speed and talent for UL week 1.
South Alabama at Nebraska (Saturday at 12 p.m. EST)
Josh: Nebraska 29, South Alabama 17. After last year’s loss to Troy, Cornhuskers will muster just enough from the passing game for a W.
Aikman: Nebraska 38, South Alabama 10. Too many unknown questions surround this South Alabama team on both sides of the ball. USA is not Troy from 2018 so therefore UN should not be as worried.
Eastern Michigan at Coastal Carolina (Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST)
Josh: Coastal Carolina 23, Eastern Michigan 22. Massimo Biscardi nails a walk-off field goal at the buzzer.
Aikman: Coastal Carolina 27, Eastern Michigan 24. I agree with Josh that a field goal could be all that separates the Chants and Eagles lets just add this game to finish in OT for a little extra treat.
SMU at Arkansas State (Saturday at 7 p.m. EST)
Josh: Arkansas State 31, SMU 19. stAte’s defensive line is still ferocious and causes headaches early for the Mustangs.
Aikman: Arkansas State 24, SMU 20. SMU may catch Arkansas State in a emotional spot with what has happen with Blake Anderson’s family but who doesn't love a feel good story win like this!
Georgia Southern at LSU (Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EST)
Josh: LSU 36, Georgia Southern 30. Eagles put scare into Tigers with a few extra wrinkles on offense and an underrated defense.
Aikman: LSU 38, Georgia Southern 24. Georgia Southern could catch LSU napping in the first half if the Eagles are able to control the tempo and keep LSU’s offense off the field. The 2nd half will be the key spot though and LSU still remembers the Troy game.
