P6 Pick’em: College Football is back!

Your favorite pick’em series, but with a twist.

NCAA Football: Texas Kickoff-Oklahoma vs Houston Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

P6 Pick’em is back! AAC football returns, and so do the picks. Michael Settle was the winner last year with a record of 72-23, and he looks to repeat. It will be tough with other three guys right behind him, but there’s also another participant. YOU! That’s right, you the fans get to participate in P6 Pick’em this year. The setup is different as well, so be sure to look closely before selecting an option. You will vote for your picks, and the cumulative winner will be your choice. Instead of records this year, we will go on a point system (explained below). Feel free to let us know in the comments what your picks are if the answers don’t reflect your picks!

Lock (1 point): You pick anyone you want (within the AAC games). Even if it’s a non-conference game, you can pick the opposing team. This is a pick you’re extremely confident in, and likely won’t lose.

Blowout (2 points): This is just AAC teams. You will pick which AAC team will win by the most points. It’ll most likely be a blowout, but even if that team only wins by 10, it counts in this category.

Upset (3 points): We’re counting this as any team that’s not favored. It could be their +1 or +35, doesn’t matter. You’re picking a team that’s not the favorite to win that particular game, not cover the spread.

Use ‘Em and Lose ‘Em (4 points): There are 12 teams in the AAC. You get to pick one team per week, and then you cannot pick them again. So, if you pick UCF in Week 1, you lose them. Your list of teams to pick from will obviously decrease as the season progresses.

**NOTE: ALL GAMES PICKED ARE AAC GAMES ONLY

FOR OUR FANS/READERS: All of your picks are decided by a vote. The option in each category with the most votes will be your selection each week.

Lock

Michael: I normally like to be different so give me Navy over Holy cross as my lock. I know I’m REALLY going out on a limb here.

Joe B: It seems ridiculous to not pick UCF to beat Florida A&M as your lock. That’s about as easy as it gets to begin the season. Brandon Wimbush won’t need much time to get acclimated with his new teammates.

Joe S: Going with my alma mater Temple as they get Bucknell the first week.

Eric: UCF will be looking to show and prove, plus Brandon Wimbush needs to get off to a quick start. Especially with the prospect of true freshman Dillion Gabriel getting significant time.

Blowout

Michael: Since it’s not March Madness and again I wanna be different give me Temple to blowout Bucknell.

Joe B: UCF could score 70+ points in this one. We’ll get to see how explosive this offense can be for a third consecutive year.

Joe S: UCF. It could get ugly quick.

Eric: UCF. Seems academic that the Knights will look to make a statement that they're more than a one-man show.

Upset

Michael: Seems like a pretty easy choice here and only because technically SMU is a Vegas underdog so I’m going with the Mustangs over Arkansas State.

Joe B: SMU’s somehow not favored against Arkansas State, and that’s enough for me to pick the Mustangs. Shane Buchele’s return to football begins with an upset.

Joe S: It’s slim pickings here with two AAC teams favored over P6 teams. SMU is the only likely upset I see possible.

Eric: I'm not doing this just because I'm the resident FIU guy. It's because I think it's the most obvious "upset" and I'm not finishing in last place again this year.

Use ‘Em and Lose ‘Em

Michael: Yeah I’ll agree with everyone else here.... UConn. This is the one game I’m giving them to win. They better.

Joe B: You kind of have to pick UConn here. It’s about the only chance they have to win, and you lose them anyways after this week. It’s tough to see the Huskies competing in many games this year.

Joe S: UConn. Repeat above.

Eric: UConn. Need I say more?
