Only one Group of Five team appears in first ever FanPulse Poll

Boise State, Cincinnati, and Army miss the cut while Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska make an appearance.

As it turns out, the fans in the SB Nation community are no different than your average voter in the AP Poll or the folks who make the Coaches Poll.

UCF is the only G5 team to appear in SB Nation’s first FanPulse Poll of the season as the Knights are ranked No. 16. UCF was the only team ranked in the Coaches Poll as well, coming in at No. 17.

For those that are unaware, throughout the season readers across the SB Nation network will get to fill out their own top 25 poll as we see whether college football fans are smarter than AP voters and the unfortunate interns in the athletic department who fill out the Coaches poll each week.

I’m disappointed that UCF is the only G5 team to appear in the top 25. I thought Boise State, Army, and Cincinnati each had a case to appear somewhere ranked in the 20s (how did Michigan state get ranked). Both Boise and Cincy have an opportunity to make a statement in the season opener against P5 teams Florida State, and UCLA, respectively.

Below is the ballot as voted on by our readers. If you’d like to participate in this weekly poll during the season, please SIGN UP HERE. Based on the ballot stuffers in East Lansing and Lincoln, we’re gonna need as much help as we can to make sure the G5 gets the respect they deserve.
