Coach Hugh Freeze and the staff at Liberty have added their 11th commitment in the form of Northwest Cabarrus (Concord, NC) strong-side defensive end Karsen Perkins.

Perkins, a 6’3” rising senior verbally committed over the past weekend after being courted by UNC-Charlotte, Campbell, NC A&T, Eastern Kentucky, and Akron before ultimately making the decision to join the Flames.

“Liberty stood out because Coach Aldridge is very consistent, talks to me almost everyday, and made me feel very wanted,” Perkins told Underdog Dynasty. “I’ve been on campus but I’m going for an official visit in September.”

After joining the team in his sophomore year at Northwest Cabarrus, Perkins racked up 12.5 sacks in his junior season and will join fellow defensive end and Indian River (Chesapeake, VA) product Lincorey Lucas as a Liberty recruit.

Perkins is looking to Liberty to take an already solid player, grow, and live up to his potential.

“The sky’s the limit,’ Perkins exclaimed. “I think I will fit in well and that they will develop me into a better player, and I expect to get better and to win games. I’m versatile, and can play more than one position.”

While Liberty fans may be able to look up Perkins on social media and learn about him there, he has a message for Flame faithful.

“I want the fans to know that I appreciate their support even though I’m not in college yet, I’m ready to rock and roll in Lynchburg.”

Perkins now looks to his senior season to try and better his sack total from his junior campaign, and hone his skills before arriving in Lynchburg.
