P6 Pickem: Bearcats looking for redemption

Cincinnati hosts UCF for a chance to redeem themselves after struggling last year.

Before we dive into Week 6, let’s take a look at how we’re doing as a whole in each P6 Pick’em category.

  • Lock picks: 21-for-25
  • Blowout: 8-for-25
  • Upset: 9-for-25
  • UE&LE: 22-for-25

As you can see, certain categories are going better for us than others. This week provides opportunities for upsets, and could create more separation in the standings. We get a huge game in Week 6 too. Cincinnati hosts UCF a year after struggling in Orlando. College GameDay won’t be coming to Nippert Stadium, but the stakes are just as high. Can the Bearcats pull off the upset? The stadium will be buzzing, and fans will be looking for reasons to cheer and make life tough for UCF.

Lock (1 point): You pick anyone you want (within the AAC games). Even if it’s a non-conference game, you can pick the opposing team. This is a pick you’re extremely confident in, and likely won’t lose.

Blowout (2 points): This is just AAC teams. You will pick which AAC team will win by the most points. It’ll most likely be a blowout, but even if that team only wins by 10, it counts in this category.

Upset (3 points): We’re counting this as any team that’s not favored. It could be their +1 or +35, doesn’t matter. You’re picking a team that’s not the favorite to win that particular game, not cover the spread.

Use ‘Em and Lose ‘Em (4 points): There are 12 teams in the AAC. You get to pick one team per week, and then you cannot pick them again. So, if you pick UCF, you lose them. Your list of teams to pick from will obviously decrease as the season progresses.

**NOTE: ALL GAMES PICKED ARE AAC GAMES ONLY

FOR OUR FANS/READERS: All of your picks are decided by a vote. The option in each category with the most votes will be your selection each week.

**Any picks left unanswered will result in forefeits

Lock

Mike:

Joe B: Give me the Memphis Tigers to beat UL-Monroe on Saturday.

Joe S: SMU over Tulsa. The Mustangs are firing on all cylinders right now, and you cannot trust the team playing UConn this week.

Eric: This is where I pick whoever is playing UConn as a lock, right? Wrong. Sorry USF fans, I don’t trust the Bulls at all. Let’s go with SMU over Tulsa as my lock.

Blowout

Mike:

Joe B: I’ll take Memphis to put up the biggest blowout and for Brady White to have a big game.

Joe S: SMU is scoring points in bunches with Shane Buechele and that isn’t stopping this week.

Eric: I’ll take Temple over ECU as my biggest blowout.

Upset

Mike:

Joe B: I don’t like any of these games, so let’s go bold and predict that Cincinnati beats UCF.

Joe S: It goes against my preseason prediction that Navy will only win two games this season, but it is the most realistic upset this week. Not going to lie, I was almost tempted to take UConn here.

Eric: I’m going to go with Navy as the most feasible upset of the week, but like Joe S., I really thought about taking UConn.

Use ‘Em and Lose ‘Em

Mike:

Joe B: Memphis is the theme of the week for me, but I like the Tigers matchup even on the road.

Joe S: It worked for me last week so I am doing it again. I am all in on SMU this week.

Eric: Looking at the rest of the schedule, this is probably the only time I’ll be able to use USF in this category. S-O-U-T-H F-L-O-R-I.....ehhh forget that. Just show up on Saturday and get the W, please.
