Boise State and UCF in, SMU and Memphis left out of Week 5 SB Nation FanPulse Poll

The Mustangs and Tigers are ranked in the national polls, but not by the readers around SB Nation.

There is a new No. 1 in the latest SB Nation FanPulse Poll, but we here at Underdog Dynasty are not too thrilled about how the G5 continues to be disrespected by the voters.

Boise State rose four spots, and UCF went up one spot as well. Both are placed just about where they are ranked in the national polls.

The SMU Mustangs are ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time since the death penalty was slapped against them, while Memphis is in the Coaches Poll for the first time this season. And yet, neither could crack the FanPulse Poll.

Some of the teams in the list are inexcusable. Let’s start with Cal rising SEVEN spots despite losing at home to Arizona State last week. The Sun Devils are ranked in the AP Top 25, but just outside the Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears are not ranked in either. Makes no sense for them to be in our SB Nation Poll, especially rising after a loss.

Not to pick on the teams in California, but even USC’s inclusion is mind-boggling. Despite the loss to Washington, they only fell two spots in the rankings. They only received a handful of votes in the national polls, but somehow managed to stay inside our top 25.

Below are the results from our readers votes.

Our readers did include SMU in their top 25 so as a group we are doing well. Would love to see Memphis and even Army crack the list. We are the only site representing the G5 so they need all the votes we can give them.
