Underdogs Against the Spread: Top Week 8 G5 Football ATS Picks

We are fully into conference play in this week’s picks.

NCAA Football: Wyoming at San Diego State Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

It was only a matter of time until a rough week hit us hard.

Our lone win last week came in the Mountain West as three second-half touchdowns from San Diego State got us over the total there. Tulsa and Fresno State were bad losses, and Eastern Michigan and BYU couldn’t cover as well.

Does that scare us away this week? Hell no. We will keep firing away with plenty of winners on the slate. Below are the picks for Week 8.

Last Week: 1-4

2019 Record: 19-14-2

South Florida Bulls vs. Navy Midshipmen (-14)

Both of these squads gave us losses last week as underdogs, but one was much more impressive in the upset. Malcolm Perry has put himself in the discussion for AAC Player of the Year, and USF will struggle to contain the Navy triple option.

Southern Miss Golden Eagles vs. Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (Over 58)

This game features two offenses that are scoring over 30 points per game with defenses that are allowing a ton of points. The over is 4-1 in the Golden Eagles last 5 road games, and they are giving up 30 points per game this season. There is enough firepower on both teams to get us over the total.

Tulane Green Wave vs. Memphis Tigers (Over 59.5)

The 28 points by the Tigers last week was the lowest they’ve scored this season, and Tulane has 38 or more the last four games. This game has huge implications in the AAC West so expect it to be a shootout.

San Diego State Aztecs (-8) vs. San Jose State Spartans

The Aztecs were the only team that got us a win last week, and they should have no problem doing so again. San Diego State is 3-0 ATS this season and 10-3 ATS on the road the last three seasons. Add in that the Aztecs have won the last six meetings by an average of 29 points, we can expect a two-score victory here.

Boise State Broncos (-7) vs. BYU Cougars

This Cougars team is tough to figure out, having lost to Toledo and USF as favorites. The Broncos have some injury concerns, but so does BYU. Boise State won the last meeting in Provo by 17 points, and a similar outcome is coming this week.
