Earlier today the Amway Coaches Poll announced their preseason Top 25 and revealed what many already know. Not that Boise State (No. 22) and UCF (No. 23) are this year’s favorites to represent the Group of Five in the New Year’s Six, but that this poll is trash and should be treated as such.

Michigan, Florida State, West Virginia and Texas are ranked ahead of Boise State and UCF despite finishing 2017 unranked and littered with questions marks surrounding whether or not they’ll actually be any good. UCF and Boise State meanwhile return a boatload of starters from teams that were very good last year.
Every blue-blood always gets the benefit of the doubt when it comes to polls while G5 teams get shafted.
We know this. Stop being surprised. The coaches poll is a joke. Yet every preseason, people are always outraged at the outcome of G5 teams being disrespected.
Here is where I bring up my favorite tweet by our friends And The Valley Shook for whenever the coaches poll is announced.
LSU is ranked {N} in the season's first [SID intern/pyramid scheme/disgruntled writers] poll, which has no bearing on the CFB playoff

Though we all know about how the Playoff Committee feels about G5 teams, that poll is the only one that truly matters. This one does not. Please stop caring about the coaches poll.
You’ll be a lot happier if you acknowledge that all this poll means is that we’re one day closer to the start of the college football season.
