The Sun Belt offices have released the schedules for 2018 and we are very thankful. Here at Underdog Dynasty we are going over each team’s schedule and up now is the conference’s newest member.
In their first FBS season, Coastal recorded a 3-9 mark with two wins in conference play. In the rough year, the Chants had to deal with a ton of quarterback injuries and a season without their head coach. Now Joe Moglia is back and this program has gotten their feet wet. The goal will be to get this program to a bowl game.

Quick Thoughts
- It’s a very interesting non-conference season for Coastal as the Chants will get a crack at in-state foe South Carolina and what seems to be a winnable home game versus UAB. The road trip to UMass in October appears to be a spot for Moglia’s club to steal a win.
- Coastal has a really brutal stretch starting on September 22nd as they’ll play four road games in five weeks. The game against Troy will be the only one their a significant underdog in but this will be a lot to handle.
- It’s disappointing to see that for the second year in a row this program will not be featured among the mid-week Sun Belt games on ESPN.
- After the brutal road stretch, the Chants return home in November for three consecutive games. However, two of these games occur against powerhouses Appalachian State and Arkansas State. It’s a big opportunity for Moglia but you can envision a scenario where this season gets sideways very fast.
