The regular season and conference championships have come and gone. The College Football Playoff and bowl games are set.
With that said, the season is not over for our Underdog Top 10. Below are our rankings leading up to bowl season.
Underdog Top 10 - Post Conference Championships
Rank | Team | Conference |
---|---|---|
Rank | Team | Conference |
1 | UCF | American |
2 | Fresno State | Mountain West |
3 | Boise State | Mountain West |
4 | App State | Sun Belt |
5 | Army | Independent |
6 | Cincinnati | American |
7 | Utah State | Mountain West |
8 | UAB | Conference USA |
9 | Memphis | American |
10 | Buffalo | Mid-American |
There are plenty of storylines inside these rankings. The UCF Knights have run the table once again. UAB is one of the best stories in years after being without a program just two years ago. Buffalo rose from the ashes to become one of the better G5 teams. Cincinnati was another surprise.
It should come as no surprise that UCF was the unanimous No. 1 pick, and the Fresno State Bulldogs were selected No. 2 by every voter also.
Boise State, Army, App State and Buffalo appeared on everyone’s poll, with the Broncos coming in strong at No. 3.
Northern Illinois is the only G5 conference champion to not be ranked in our top 10. In fact, they received just one vote by our panel.
Breaking it down by conference, the Mountain West and American each had three teams in our rankings. The rest of the G5 had one team represent their respective conference, while Army made the list as an independent with the rivalry game against Navy upcoming this weekend.
