Although Tulane’s football season has come to a close, the work seems to just be beginning in New Orleans. Willie Fritz and his staff had an eventful day on Wednesday, the first day of this year’s Early Signing Period, with the signing of 16 new recruits to the team. The team would add one more before the period ended on Friday. As seems to be tradition for the Wave, there is a healthy mix of home-grown talent intertwined with out-of-state newcomers.
Tulane appeared to be focused on bolstering several facets of the team, one being the defense that is set to lose two dynamic forces in the secondary in Roderic Teamer and Donnie Lewis. This issue was clearly addressed and it shows in the fresh 2019 class which features five DBs. They are as follows:
Ton’Quez Ball - Knoxville, TN
Kanyon Walker - Wildwood, FL
Kiland Harrison - Madison, MS
Tyler Judson - Zachary, LA
Levi Williams - Bloomingdale, FL
The team also rejuvenated its offensive line that will be saying farewell to guys like John Leglue, Noah Fisher and Dominique Briggs. The newest members of Tulane’s O line are Jackson Fort (a fitting name for an offensive lineman), Colby Orgeron and Sincere Haynesworth. Fort and Haynesworth both hail from Texas while Orgeron is remaining in Louisiana, coming in from River Ridge. Two tight ends also join the mix: Connor Richardson (Germantown, TN) and Keshon Williams (Longview, TX).
In total, the Green Wave have commitments from 17 players (14 of which are three-star recruits) ranging from as far west as California all the way back to the Bayou. The team ranks 85th nationally on 24/7 Sports’ recruiting rankings and, per those same rankings, 9th in the AAC.
Here are the remaining recruits that will be joining the Wave that have not already been listed:
Tyrek Presley, WR - Riverdale, GA
Eric Hicks Jr., DL - Savannah, GA
Armoni Dixon, JOK - Wilmette, IL
Dorian Williams, LB - Indian Land, SC
Tyjae Spears, RB - Ponchatoula, LA
Nick Anderson, LB - Ellisville, MS
Caleb Thomas, DL - Santa Maria, CA
