After losing their highly controversial offensive coordinator Kendal Briles to Houston this offseason, FAU has went ahead and grabbed another coach’s son as Charlie Weis Jr. will reportedly be FAU’s new offensive coordinator. At 24 years old, Weis Jr. is the youngest coordinator in the FBS.
FAU coach Lane Kiffin to make national news again by naming 24-year-old Charlie Weis Jr. his new offensive coordinator. #CFB #NCAA #SEC @RedditCFB @SDS https://t.co/9Qk3m4oBsr

Yes, he is the son of Charlie Weis, the guy that used to be Notre Dame’s head coach. Other than the fact that Charlie Weis Jr. is the same age as me, the one thing that stands out about the hire is Weis Jr.’s familiarity with Lane Kiffin and FAU.
Weis Jr. and Kiffin worked together while at Alabama, albeit briefly. Weis Jr. spent two seasons at Alabama as an offensive analyst. He worked with the Atlanta Falcons as an offensive assistant this past season right after becoming FAU’s tight ends coach.
A reminder to @FAU_Football fans...Charlie Weis, Jr. won't have to go through a lengthy learning process of #FAU personnel. He was on staff through Signing Day last year as a TE's coach.

Considering Lane Kiffin is the brain child of FAU’s high powered offense, I’m not that worried about Weis Jr.’s youth. He will certainly be able to relate to recruits as he’s only a few years older than the current seniors on the team.
Given his lack of experience as an offensive coordinator, the only thing we can do is wait and see what kind of influence he will have on the team and Lane Kiffin.
