New to Top 10: UCF, UTSA
Dropped out: Troy, NIU
Perhaps the headliner for this week is the drop of Boise State down to #10. The Broncos are only 2 points above the first team left out (Troy) after their embarrassing home loss to Virginia last week. The other headline has to be UCF, following the Knights’ 38-10 rout of the Big Ten’s Maryland. UCF jumps from unranked to #6. UTSA is the other team new to the top 10 this week. The Roadrunners stomped Sun Belt rival Texas State and remain the only undefeated C-USA team.
The American continues to assert itself as the top G5 conference, with half of the top 10 hailing from it. Three Mountain West teams join them, including #1 San Diego State, who remains at the top spot for the second straight week. C-USA and the MAC each have one team, while the Sun Belt drops out and the independents remain unrepresented.
The marquee game this week features the #3 Memphis Tigers travelling to the #6 UCF Knights. Other notable games include the #1 San Diego State Aztecs hosting the Northern Illinois Huskies, who are not ranked this week but were last week. The #2 South Florida Bulls will travel to East Carolina, and the #4 Houston Cougars travel to Temple.
