Uniform March Madness: Final Four

And then there were four. Our regional brackets are finished, and the winners now face-off to determine the ultimate champion. South Dakota State completed it’s Cinderella run in the FCS region, and will face Navy. The Midshipmen won the AAC region with their classic look. In the lower half of the bracket, Southern Mississippi started off slow, but gained some momentum to win the Conference USA region. They will face the Mountaineers of Appalachian State, who dominated the Sun Belt Region to reach the Final Four.

As always, you decide who wins each matchup based on uniforms. The bracket is below and a poll should be listed under each matchup.

#7 South Dakota State Jackrabbits vs #2 Navy Midshipmen

South Dakota State

Previous: Beat #10 Chattanooga 30-8, #2 Youngstown State 23-11, #6 Jacksonville State 43-36, and #1 James Madison 49-26.

It isn’t too surprising to see the Jackrabbits in the Final Four. The teams they have faced don’t bring too mach change to the table each week. Their matchup against the Dukes in the Elite eight was a test, but not enough to keep SDSU out of the Final Four. They will need more support if they want to make it to the championship.

Navy

Previous: Beat #7 UCF 129-72, #11 East Carolina 57-28 and #5 Memphis 84-75.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Navy found a look that works, and not much has changed. Even when they change their uniforms for Army-Navy, the look remains simple. After holding off ever-changing Memphis, the Midshipmen hope they can hold off South Dakota State to reach the championship.

#6 Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles vs #1 Appalachian State Mountaineers

Southern Mississippi

Previous: Beat #11 Marshall 52-46, #3 Louisiana Tech 52-45, #2 Old Dominion 139-95 and #1 Western Kentucky 80-78.

The Golden Eagles have battled their way to the Final Four. After falling behind against Western Kentucky, they fought back and snuck out a two point win. They now face their toughest test yet, and will need a lot more support if they want a chance at the championship.

Appalachian State

Previous: Beat #8 South Alabama 488-198, #5 UL-Lafayette 248-82, and #7 Louisiana-Monroe 268-27.

Domination is the only to describe the Mountaineers run. After beating somehow Uniform-Final-Four-qualified Louisiana-Monroe, Appalachian State has its sights fixed on a championship. While facing another black and gold team, there shouldn’t be too much worry if their tremendous support continues.
