General G5 Football
- We are now in the Sweet 16 or our Uniform March Madness Tournament. If Western Kentucky doesn’t win this tournament I’m going to blame it on voter fraud.
American
- I know this is a football blog but Wichita State appears to be on their way to the American as a basketball member. Not sure how valuable this is for the AAC but I guess if UConn bolts for the Big East they have nice replacement.
- Matt Davis surprisingly left SMU for the NFL but the quarterback situation in Dallas is still in good shape.
- Quinton Flowers shows up again on The Daily Stampede’s list of Best Plays in 2016.
- Ed Oliver is the big name on Houston’s defense but don’t sleep on Khalil Williams.
Conference USA
- More controversy in Boca Raton as Lane Kiffin is being sued by former Alabama receiver Antonio Carter over being promised a spot on Kiffin’s coaching staff. The allegations seem a bit dubious but I guess we’ll see how this turns out.
- North Texas’ coaching staff got picked apart this offseason. A competitive salary for the staff is on the way should Seth Littrell’s staff be on the P5 radar again.
- Football Study Hall dives in on James Madison’s unique spread offense and how they were able to defeat FCS power North Dakota State.
- Just about everyone believes J’Mar Smith will be the next starting quarterback La Tech but the coaching staff isn’t crowing Smith just yet.
Sun Belt
- New Mexico State’s offensive line was decimated by injuries last season. Now they’re back at full strength.
