Uniform March Madness: Sun Belt Region

Who will shine in Round 1?

NCAA Football: Georgia State at Wisconsin Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Our March Madness bracket continues with the FCS region. If you want to know the format, be sure to check out the AAC region post for the details. We are starting with Round 1, so there will only be three matchups to pick because of the bracket setup. Also, if you haven’t already checked out the Conference USA region, head on over and vote for that region.

Make sure you check out the bracket below to get an idea of who is playing in Round 1. Once again, you decide who wins and who loses based on uniforms!

#8 South Alabama Jaguars vs #9 Georgia State Panthers

NCAA Football: San Diego State at South Alabama Glenn Andrews-USA TODAY Sports

SOUTH ALABAMA

COLORS: Red, white, blue

BRAND: Nike

SUMMARY: If you’re a big Team USA fan, these are the uniforms to vote for. The red white and blue look is hard to mess up, and the Jags did well this season. All three colors were used in the jerseys, while just blue and white were used as the main helmet colors. Could an all red look be coming in 2017?

GEORGIA STATE

COLORS: Blue, white

BRAND: Nike

SUMMARY: Georgia State mixes blue with white and black really well, and even throws a Smurf look in as well. There aren’t any designs besides the logos on their helmets, but the product is always clean. The Smurf look as well as the all white combo were definite highlights.

#7 Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks vs #10 New Mexico State Aggies

NCAA Football: UL Monroe at Oklahoma Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

ULM

COLORS: Maroon, gold

BRAND: Adidas

SUMMARY: The white helmets are here to stay, but at least the Warhawks changed the facemask color and logo every so often. It’s pretty easy to guess the color schemes they will use each week, but at least they switched up some details this season.

NCAA Football: New Mexico State at Texas A&M Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

NEW MEXICO STATE

COLORS: Crimson, white

BRAND: Under Armour

SUMMARY: One helmet, two jerseys, two pairs of pants. I won’t say that the Aggies have the worst uniforms, but it is difficult to get excited about them. The design isn’t actually bad, but it also doesn’t make anyone look twice either.

#6 Georgia Southern Eagles vs #11 Texas State Bobcats

NCAA Football: Georgia Southern at Georgia Tech Adam Hagy-USA TODAY Sports

GEORGIA SOUTHERN

COLORS: Blue, white

BRAND: Adidas

SUMMARY: I thought I knew everything about the Eagles uniforms until they started the season. Debuting blue jerseys with gold, yes gold pants, numbers, and trim, Georgia Southern had everyone thinking they changed. Then they said “just kidding, we like the way we look” and went back to their normal look. Blue helmets with white numbers, blue or white jerseys, and white pants. A clean and simple look without any change.

NCAA Football: Houston at Texas State Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

TEXAS STATE

COLORS: Maroon, gold

BRAND: Adidas

SUMMARY: The Bobcats have a few combinations of uniforms. There are the maroon tops with white helmet and pants, black helmet (with gold bobcat logo) /jersey/pants, and an all white version with a maroon bobcat logo as well. Like most teams in the FBS trying to be progressive they combine color and styles depending on the game.
