After beating South Alabama 22-17 and reaching a bowl for the first time in 57 years(!), the New Mexico State football team received more good news because on Monday, the Sun Belt named quarterback Tyler Rogers and linebacker Terrill Hanks offensive and defensive players of the week!
T-Rog (the T stands for touchdown) earned the award after throwing for 451 yards on 40 for 61 passing and two touchdowns, including the game winner to Conner Cramer.
He also led an incredible 83 yard drive in less than five minutes. The whole offense deserves credit for that but man, it was smooth.
This is the second time this season that Rogers has been named player of the week.
On the defensive side, Terrill Hanks was all over the field on Saturday, creating pressure on the quarterback and being a force in pass defense as well.
Hanks ended the night with eight tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a huge interception to end the first half.
This was Hanks first POTW award this season and the Aggies sixth award as a team this season.
Good luck in the bowl this season guys! We’ll all be there supporting you!
