It might not have been the season that Houston or its fans, but a 7-4 finish gives them a trip out west. The Cougars will head to Hawaii to face Mountain West runner-up Fresno State in the Hawaii Bowl. The game is scheduled for December 24th at 7:30pm CT and can be seen on ESPN or the WatchESPN app.

Fresno State was one of the interesting stories in college football this year. Just a year removed from a horrendous 1-11 season, the Bulldogs made a quick turnaround with new coach Jeff Tedford. Tedford produced nine wins in his first season, and even had his team ranked in the Top 25 this year.
This will be the second year in a row where the Cougars meet a Mountain West team. Last year the Cougars lost to San Diego State 34-10.
A season of uncertainty started out fine, but got rough just a month in. Quarterback changes and inefficient offensive play were the stories of the first month, but the switch to D’Eriq King at quarterback seemed to steady the ship. Houston looks to finish their first year under Major Applewhite with a win, and send their seniors off on a high note.
For those looking for a reason to take a nice vacation here you go! What better way to celebrate the holidays than to go to Hawaii and watching your Cougars play one last game in their 2017 season. I think I speak for many when I say that I hope this one goes better than last year.
