4-Star defensive tackle Tayland Humphrey chooses FIU over Alabama

One of the best JUCO players in the nation picked FIU over Bama. Yes, you read that correctly.

If you ever doubted Butch Davis’ ability to recruit shame on you. Earlier this week the FIU Panthers picked up perhaps the highest-rated commit in school history, as one of the best Junior College defensive tackles in the country has decided to take his talents to Miami.

Tayland Humprhey is considered by many recruiting services to be the best JUCO DT in this year’s class. Out of Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, his offer sheet is impressive, as he had the opportunity to sign with just about every traditional powerhouse in the southeast. Yes, even Alabama.

As Humprhey mentions in the tweet above, family factored into his decision as his little brother John Bolding is currently committed to FIU for the class of 2019.

FIU’s recruiting class is currently ranked 81st in the country and 4th in Conference USA, according to 247Sports.

Butch Davis was expected to turn FIU around but not many expected it to happen this quickly as the Panthers are 8-4 in Butch’s first year and are a bowl win away from notching their first 9-win season in school history.
