According to FBSchedules.com the New Mexico State Aggies have added FCS opponent Incarnate Word to their 2019 football schedule.

The game will be played November 16, 2019 in Las Cruces at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

Incarnate Word is an FCS college in San Antonio, Texas. They are a member of the Southland Conference and just began their football program in 2009.

Currently the Cardinals are 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Schedule Implications

This game gives the Aggies another game for their second independent schedule and they are now only three games away from completing it!

Two of the remaining three games will need to be home games to meet the FBS requirement of five.

The current 2019 schedule is broken down as follows:

Away Games: Washington State, Alabama, New Mexico, Georgia Southern, Ole Miss, Liberty

Home Games: UTEP, Liberty, Incarnate Word

It will be interesting to see who the Aggies can lure to Las Cruces for a future game. It has to be a G5 team I would think. I have a feeling that another independent team, maybe UMass, Army, or BYU, will come to visit.

BYU currently needs one more game to finish their schedule, Army needs two and UMass needs three. So look for one of those three teams to make a home and home series with the Crimson.

Do you agree? Who do you think NMSU will schedule for their future games? Let us know in the comments!
