For the Mean Green, this has been a pretty good off season.
From the hiring of Seth Littrell last year, to the announcing of the 2017 football schedule, new AD Wren Baker continues to make his mark, sweeping aside any lingering mediocrity from the years before his arrival.
Friday, UNT announced a home-and-home series with Big 12 squad Texas Tech, adding some much-needed variety to their upcoming slates (UNT has Army on its schedule annually through 2021, and SMU annually through at least 2025).
The Mean Green will travel to Lubbock to play the Red Raiders on Sept. 14, 2024. Then Tech will return the favor, traveling to Denton to play at Apogee Stadium on Sept. 11, 2027. Texas Tech will be the first Big XII team to travel to Apogee Stadium and just the second Power Five program to travel to Denton. Indiana was the first P5 team to play in Apogee during the stadium-opening 2011 season.
The two teams have not played each other since 2001, UNT’s first year at the FBS level. Despite the gap, the series is currently tied at 4-4.
