Texas State alum, Logan Cunningham, had his qualifying event for men's pole vault on Saturday and did not move on to the finals. He ranked 28th during qualifications with a 5.30 meter jump. He fared better during the Olympic trials clearing 5.60 meters on his first attempt. The final event is in progress and Sam Kendricks is still in the game representing Team USA.
Three-time Olympian and Coastal Carolina grad, Amber Campbell finished sixth overall in the hammer throw event. She threw 72.74 meters, but Poland's Anita Wlodarczyk broke her own world record throwing the hammer an incredible 82.89 meters. Campbell also competed in the London and Beijing Olympics finishing 12th and 21st respectively.
Anicka Newell is scheduled to compete tomorrow morning in the women's pole vault qualifications.
