Idaho loses a 2017 non-conference opponent in Nevada

The farewell season for Idaho makes a slight adjustment.

The Idaho Vandals will be saying goodbye to FBS football and the Sun Belt Conference in 2017, and they'll be doing it without a trip to Reno.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported on Wednesday that Nevada had removed Idaho from the schedule due to scheduling challenges on Idaho's part. Nevada replaced the Vandals with FCS rival Idaho State.

Not securing that pay out will probably hurt for at least that season, but the Vandals still have a decent schedule ahead of them in 2017.

According to FBSchedules.com, the 2017 Idaho tentative schedule includes a visit from UNLV on Sept. 9th, and two road games against Western Michigan on Sept. 23rd and Missouri on Oct. 21st.

Nevada, who replaced Idaho with Idaho State, will also face Northwestern, Toledo and Washington State in 2017.

Nevada stated to the Reno Gazette-Journal that they look to uphold the game and are arranging details for a "mutually acceptable" future date once Idaho drops down to the FCS level.

The Vandals begin Big Sky Conference play in 2018, with non-conference games at Fresno State, Northern Illinois and Florida. The Vandals will also host Wyoming at the Kibbie Dome.
