MTSU Head Coach Rick Stockstill Delivers Clothesline in Wrestling Ring

Somebody get Rick Stockstill an NXT Rookie contract ASAP.

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

The WWE just finished up their big Wrestlemania 32 weekend in Dallas and Middle Tennessee State is getting in on the squared circle action that has gripped the nation for the past two weeks.

The Arcadian Wrestling Association, an independent promotion, took their show to the Murphy Center at MTSU's campus on Thursday night where several members of the Blue Raider football team were in attendance for the show. The card featured the likes of former WWE legends such as Road Warrior Animal and one-half of the New Age Outlaws Billy Gunn.

The highlight of the night came when a wrestler by the name of Chris Michaels (who looks like a weird mix of Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner) started cutting a promo about Murfreesboro and the MTSU football team. Pretty typical good heel work for the performer to draw heat from the crowd by antagonizing them and their local teams. But then suddenly...

BAH GAWD KANG! THAT'S RICK STOCKSTILL'S MUSIC!!!

That's right, Blue Raider head football coach Rick Stockstill, backwards hat and all, stepped into the ring to deliver a clothesline and send a message to all future Conference USA opponents that you don't come disrespecting Middle Tennessee (State) in their house and expect to get away with it.

With spring practices dying down and the worst of the slow offseason yet to come, this was a really cool moment and yet another occurrence of college football coaches doing weird things to fire up both their team and their fanbase. Big props to Michaels and AWA for putting MTSU over here and selling Stockstill's clothesline like a champ.

Should Stockstill ever step into the ring again, with more practice and a little bit of momentum, he'll be throwing Clotheslines from Hell like John Bradshaw Layfield in no time.
