Kalan Reed of Southern Miss Is Mr. Irrelevant After Being Selected By The Titans With The #253 Pick Of The 2016 NFL Draft

A bit undersized and underestimated, Kalan Reed of Southern Miss got to hear his name called at the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Kalan Reed is an interesting prospect that saw his star rise during his final season at Southern Miss. Until 2015, he was a solid cornerback that showed occasional signs of excellence. He finally put everything together as a senior and rode his impressive play to All-Conference USA honors.

Reed is a bit undersized at 5-11 and may not be someone that a team can trust on the outside, but he is a competitor that will fight for playing time. He is going to a great situation in Tennessee with many spots on the secondary open for the taking.

Although he may one day see playing time in the secondary, Reed must prove to the Titans that he can play on special teams. He will be used on just about everything in the preseason in order to prove he deserves a spot on the roster.

In the end, the Titans may want to try to sneak him onto the practice squad in 2016 in hopes that he will progress enough to activate in 2017.

Congratulations to Kalan Reed and Southern Miss on landing Mr. Irrelevant and sending another Conference USA player to the NFL.
