Joining teammate and first round draft pick, Houston linebacker Elandon Roberts heard his named called in the sixth round of hte NFL Draft.
Roberts is a perfect student of the game, willing to do anything at all to help the team. He was a great leader for the Houston defense and led the FBS with 88 solo tackles last fall. He takes criticism well and works to improve flaws during the offseason.
He is a very physical player that would have been off the board much sooner if a few of his measurables were better. Roberts has the chance to play opposite a more physically imposing inside linebacker and rack up lots of tackles.
While he may have some time breaking into the starting lineup, Roberts could find some early playing time in some sub packages. Expect Roberts to have no trouble making the Patriots roster in 2016 and at least seeing time on special teams.
Congratulations to Elandon Roberts and the Houston Cougars on sending another player to the NFL.
